Manual connection

Connect your TV remote using the TV’s IP address

Manual IP connection helps when a compatible TV is online but automatic discovery does not list it, for example on networks that block discovery traffic. It does not skip pairing, add support for unsupported platforms or connect across isolated networks.

Find the TV’s current address

Open the TV’s network information or connection-status screen. Menu names vary by platform and software. On Roku, it is under Settings → Network → About. On other TVs, check the network settings or your model’s manual.

Use the address the TV shows now, not an old note. Home routers can assign a new address after devices restart. An address such as 192.168.1.45 is only an example, not a value to copy.

Enter it in TV Remotely

  1. Turn on the TV and confirm it is connected to your home network.
  2. Put the phone on the same local network.
  3. Open the TV list in TV Remotely and tap Enter IP manually at the bottom.
  4. Type the TV’s current local address.
  5. Follow any approval or pairing code shown on the TV.
  6. Test a navigation command after connecting.

Do not enter your home’s public internet address. This guide is about controlling a TV inside your home, not remote access from outside it.

Manual connection still fails

Check the compatible-platform table and the discovery checklist. On iPhone, confirm Local Network permission. A correctly typed address still needs a reachable TV and a completed approval.

If the TV responds but rejects the request, troubleshoot pairing instead of trying other addresses. For Samsung, follow the connection-denied guide.

Do matching first numbers prove both devices can connect?

No. Similar addresses (such as 192.168.1.x on both) are a good sign, but routing, subnet settings and client isolation also matter. Check the network’s configuration, or ask whoever manages it.

Should I open router ports?

No. Port forwarding is not needed for local control. Do not expose TV-control services to the internet to fix discovery. If problems continue, report the platform, app version and exact error, without posting passwords or other sensitive network details publicly.
