About
About TV Remotely
TV Remotely is an independent app that turns your iPhone or Android phone into a remote for compatible smart TVs on your home Wi-Fi. One app works across Samsung, LG, Sony, Roku, Android TV, Google TV, Fire TV and more, with no account and no ads. It is built and maintained independently, not by any TV manufacturer.
Why it exists
Most homes have more than one brand of TV, and each maker’s own remote app works only with its own sets, often after you create an account. Remotes get lost, batteries run out, and a phone is usually closer to hand. TV Remotely is one familiar remote layout that works with whichever compatible TV is on the network.
It is honest about its limits. A phone remote needs the TV to be on the same network and switched on or in network standby, and some TVs can’t be controlled at all. Those limits are written up in the guides instead of being left for you to discover.
How it is built
- Local control. Commands go straight from your phone to your TV over your home network, not through our servers.
- No account, no ads. There is nothing to sign up for, and the app carries no advertising SDKs or advertising identifier.
- Evidence before claims. A TV model is named as tested only after it has actually been tested. How we test lists what has been checked on real hardware and what has not.
- Fixes in public. Reports and their answers live on the public support board, and fixed issues are listed under recent fixes.
What it costs
TV Remotely is free, with no subscription and no ads. If paid features are ever added, the line between free and paid will be described on this site before anything is charged.
Not affiliated with any TV maker
Not affiliated with Samsung, LG, Sony, TCL, Hisense, Roku, Amazon, Google or Vizio. Brand names are used only to describe which TVs the app works with. TV Remotely uses no manufacturer logos and does not claim any official partnership.
Contact
For help with a TV, the quickest route is the support form, because the answer is public and helps the next person with the same set. For anything else, including privacy questions and press, email support@tvremotely.com. How data is handled is set out in privacy and security explained and the full Privacy Policy.
