Choosing a function

TV remote control, casting and screen mirroring are different

Pairing a phone remote lets the app send control commands the TV supports. It does not mean the phone can mirror its screen or send every video to the TV.

Choose the function you need

TV functions and what each one needs
Your goalFunctionWhat must be supported

These functions may share your home network while using different services on the TV. That is why a working remote and a failed casting session can happen at the same time.

What does TV Remotely’s connection cover?

Pairing gives the app its control connection to that TV, with commands that vary by platform and model. The app’s Cast tab can also send supported photos, videos and links to compatible TVs; the compatibility table shows media support for each platform. It is not a promise for every format, protected stream or mirroring mode.

For screen mirroring, the app hands you to your phone’s own AirPlay, Cast or Smart View option where it exists. Check that your phone and TV support that method.

The TV appears in a casting app but not in the remote

A TV can accept casting while its remote-control service is unavailable, a permission is missing or the platform is unsupported. Use the TV discovery checklist and the right platform guide, rather than treating a casting result as proof of remote compatibility.

The remote works but my phone screen will not mirror

Check which mirroring method your phone and TV share, and make sure you select the TV or device that method expects. Pairing TV Remotely cannot add AirPlay or another mirroring receiver to a TV that does not have one.

A video opens but will not play

Content rights, the source app and the receiving platform all affect playback, and a remote command cannot remove those restrictions. To type rather than share video, use the phone keyboard guide. If a specific TV Remotely command fails, report the model and the action.
