Claude Code on Sony Google TV: model checks first

Sony BRAVIA TVs with Google TV may permit owner-authorized ADB inspection, but Sony’s TV input, IP control and casting features can depend on vendor packages. Community reports are examples for particular models, not a universal Sony cleanup list.

Published by TV Remotely · Source checked 2026-10-26. Model and firmware behavior can differ; device tests are named only where performed.

What a model-specific report shows

Clean Your TV lists XR-55A80K on Google TV 12 and KD-43X80L on Google TV 12, with their own kept features. The XR report specifically keeps Chromecast, AirPlay, firmware updates and Sony IP control; an older Android TV 7 BRAVIA is documented as below the project launcher’s Android 8 floor.

Compatibility decision: BRAVIA model then Google TV version then Preserve inputs/IP then Restore Home

What to check on your own device

Check the exact BRAVIA model, firmware and platform. If you use Home Assistant or a Sony IP-control setup, include it in the preservation checklist. Keep TVX/live-input services and the original launcher recovery route. Do not use a Sony Google TV procedure on a non-Google BRAVIA.

A safe next step

Record the full model, firmware, original Home behavior and the functions you want to preserve. Compare only with a source report for the same hardware and software. Ask your coding assistant for an inspection-only plan, exact effects and a verified undo route. If the source does not match, keep the TV unchanged and use its built-in settings.
