Claude Code on Fire TV: Fire OS and Vega need different answers

Some Fire TV devices run Android-derived Fire OS and support documented ADB workflows; newer Fire TV sticks can run Vega OS instead. Identify the exact model and OS in About before giving Claude Code any shell or cleanup instructions.

What a model-specific report shows

Amazon’s device list marks Fire TV Stick 4K Select and newer HD/4K generations as Vega OS. Clean Your TV’s Fire OS reports cover devices such as the 2018 Stick 4K on Fire OS 6 and 2023 Stick 4K on Fire OS 8, with different protected packages and features.

What to check on your own device

For a Fire OS model, preserve Live TV/input controls, casting, voice and software updates, and use a Fire OS-specific restore record. For Vega, Android ADB package commands are the wrong workflow. Neither case justifies applying a generic Google TV package list.

A safe next step

Record the full model, firmware, original Home behavior and the functions you want to preserve. Compare only with a source report for the same hardware and software. Ask your coding assistant for an inspection-only plan, exact effects and a verified undo route. If the source does not match, keep the TV unchanged and use its built-in settings.
