Troubleshooting
TV won’t turn on? Check the TV button, power and standby light
If a TV will not turn on, try the TV’s physical power button, check the external power connection and note the standby light. Light colors and blink codes vary by model; the Samsung red-light examples below must not be used as codes for other brands.

First, check what the TV indicator does
For the Samsung TVs covered by its support guide, red means standby; an unlit LED can mean either an active TV or no power. Other brands and models use different indicators. Use the physical button and external power checks below, then consult the exact model manual for its light pattern.
If the light is on, press the TV’s own power button once.
If the TV starts, the remote or its pairing/batteries may be the problem.
If that does not help: Find the button in the model manual; positions vary.
If the light is off, check the power cord at both ends, then try a known-working wall outlet.
This helps separate outlet or cable power from a remote fault.
If that does not help: For a brief power reset, unplug for the manufacturer’s stated time; Samsung says 30 seconds.
If the light is blinking, record the pattern and check the maker’s model-specific guidance.
A blink can indicate different states across brands and models.
If that does not help: If it continues after the manufacturer’s power reset, contact the TV maker rather than guessing a code.
The TV may already be on with a black picture
On some models the indicator is off both when the TV is running and when it has no power. Press a non-power TV control or use the TV’s on-screen menu if available. If the menu appears, troubleshoot a blank picture or input signal instead of power. Disconnecting every connected device can help isolate a startup issue, but do not open the TV casing.
What to do next
Use the indicator as a model-specific clue, test the TV button and outlet, and seek service if manufacturer steps fail.
