Explainers & comparisons
Claude Code vs manual TV cleanup
You do not need Claude Code to reduce TV clutter. Built-in privacy and home-screen settings are the first option. On a compatible Android-based TV, an experienced owner can also use ADB manually; a coding assistant mainly helps organize inspection, records and review.

Start with built-in controls
Google TV Apps-only mode hides personalized recommendations, but Google says sponsored content and teasers remain. Other platforms offer their own privacy, ad-personalization or power-on settings. These changes are normally easier to reverse than disabling packages.
Write down each original switch value so you can restore it.
What an assistant changes
Claude Code can read project documentation and propose a plan on your computer. It still needs the same TV approval and ADB permissions as a manual workflow. Review every proposed command, package name and expected effect. Do not allow an automatic bulk disable pass across an unknown model.
A reliable manual workflow and a reviewed assistant workflow should reach the same device-side result.
Decide whether deeper changes are worthwhile
Compare the annoyance you want to solve with the cost of device-specific testing and recovery. If Apps-only mode meets your need, stop there. If you need a different launcher, check tested device notes and confirm a way back to the stock Home.
On closed platforms, a prompt cannot create an Android shell; use supported settings or an external streaming device.
