Can Claude Code remove Roku TV ads?

Claude Code cannot use Android ADB to remove Roku TV home ads. Roku’s published ECP interface supports local control operations, while Roku’s ad-preference settings can limit categories or hide some individual ads. Those controls do not equal an ad-free home screen.

What Roku exposes

Roku’s External Control Protocol documents local-network discovery and selected remote commands, and its current developer rules restrict commands from third-party platforms, including mobile applications. It does not publish Android-style package disable commands or a way to replace Home through ECP. A coding assistant can explain the interface, but cannot add missing device permissions.

Check the Roku OS version and the current Control by mobile apps setting if your goal is local remote control.

What ad settings can change

Roku Support describes Settings, Privacy, Advertising and Sensitive ad content for supported ad preferences. Hiding an ad from Home replaces that ad with another one. Roku says these preferences apply to certain display ads and do not cover all video ads, partner apps or themed backgrounds.

If an option is absent, check Roku’s support page for your region and device model.

Choose a realistic alternative

If your main concern is personalized ads, review Roku’s privacy and advertising choices. If you want a different Home experience, use a separate streaming device with controls you prefer, while keeping the Roku TV as the display if its inputs permit.

Do not give an assistant network access to your TV expecting it to remove firmware features that Roku does not expose.
