Add supported channels to Google TV’s Live tab

Google TV service linking helps tailor recommendations and, for some supported providers, show live channels in the Live tab. It does not replace installing the provider’s app, guarantee that every service offers Live-tab channels, or cancel a subscription when unlinked.

Add a service on the television

On a Google TV device, Google documents Settings > Accounts & Sign In > your profile > Your services. Turn on the service you use and scroll left to save and exit. Provider and Live-tab availability vary by country, device and service.

  1. Add the Google Account that belongs to the streaming subscription if the provider requires account matching.

This lets Google TV associate provider recommendations with the correct profile.

If that does not help: If the service is absent, check whether it is supported in your country and whether its app is available for the device.

  2. For live channels, install the provider’s app and complete its own account setup when required.

Google says live TV from providers such as Haystack News, Plex, Pluto TV, Tubi, YouTube TV, Sling TV and Philo may require the provider’s app or linking steps.

If that does not help: Use the provider’s support for subscription or login errors.

  3. Select the provider’s Live channels or guide after linking.

Available channels depend on the provider and region.

If that does not help: Some services only contribute recommendations; they do not supply Live-tab channels.

Follow the provider-specific step in supported regions

  • YouTube TV: add the Google Account used for the YouTube TV subscription and switch to it inside the YouTube TV app if necessary.
  • Sling TV: install Sling TV, then link the service to the same Google Account through Google Home’s Video or Live TV services.
  • Philo: install the Philo app, then add Philo under your Google TV profile’s Your services.
  • Google TV Freeplay: the cited no-sign-up lineup is a US feature. Other countries have different partners, tabs and channel availability.

What to do next

Link a supported service for discovery, install its app when required, and manage subscription billing with the provider.
