Vizio TV privacy settings

Vizio TV privacy choices include a Viewing Data setting on supported models. Vizio says turning it off does not reduce TV performance or online services, but it does not stop all other device activity data or advertising.

Locate the menu for your Vizio version

Vizio’s current policy locates Viewing Data at All Settings, Privacy & Legal, Viewing Data on newer Vizio OS products. Older sets can use All Settings, Admin & Privacy, Viewing Data, while earlier SmartCast menus vary. Check the exact model and the on-screen wording.

What Viewing Data controls

Vizio describes Viewing Data as ACR-related information about content shown on the TV, subject to consent. It says switching collection off stops that feature and does not affect performance or online services. Vizio also explains that separate Activity Data may still support recommendations and that past ad targeting can persist for a time.

Verify and review app accounts

Record the original state, change the choice, then reopen the menu to confirm. If you use a streaming app signed into its own account, review that app’s privacy settings separately.

A factory reset is unnecessary for changing this single setting; reserve reset for handing off the device or manufacturer-directed troubleshooting.
