Sony BRAVIA IP control and remote-device settings
Sony BRAVIA remote start and IP control settings vary by model year and operating system. Sony’s Google TV help lists different paths for 2024, 2021–22 and 2020 sets, so identify your model before enabling a network control option.
Published by TV Remotely · Source checked 2026-10-26. Model and firmware behavior can differ; device tests are named only where performed.
Identify the BRAVIA software
Read the model and software version in About. A Sony Google TV can use the Google TV virtual remote service for ordinary phone control, while Sony also documents Remote Start and Simple IP control for certain model years. These are separate paths with different purposes.
Do not enable Simple IP control solely because a newer or older BRAVIA guide mentions it.
Use Sony’s year-specific instructions
Sony says 2024 Google TV models can set Remote Start under Network & Internet. Its 2021–22 examples distinguish networked standby and powered-by-apps options. The 2020 example adds Home Network, IP control, Simple IP control. Sony notes that enabled network wake uses more standby power.
Follow Sony’s support article for the exact model, and record each original setting before changing it.
Test the behavior you need
Pair or connect while the TV is on, test ordinary navigation, then test wake only if that is your goal. If a remote app does not discover the TV, check the network before broadening IP control.
If a setting has no effect, return it to its original value and provide Sony with model, firmware and the failed step.
